In February we will discuss the wonders of native fruits, in particular Persimmons and PawPawas and will be reserving plants for grafting superior selections of these hardy tropical tasting fruits at the March meeting.  Another great benefit is that these are not bothered by insect pests and can easily be grown without pesticides or a lot of additional care.  Even better, PawPawas need shade to do well, while Persimmons enjoy sun or part shade.  Planting these true Maryland natives also go a long way in preserving some rare native plants important in the local ecosystem.

We will also have a short discussion on great gardening websites and catalogs  that have rare and easy to grow plants and seeds.  A useful handout listing these will be provided.

Elmer Dengler a veteran in these topics and will lead the discussions.  Please bring catalogs to share or give away.
